“NOMAD”
CONTINUATION OF 2015 COLLECTION “NOMADS OF THE DREAM TRIBE”
ANIMATIONS, PRINTMAKING AND INSTALLATIONS ARE THE MAIN FORCUS.
The motivation for “Nomad” is to seek new and innovative ways of expanding conversations
and philosophies within my work. By challenging groups of new and conventional ways in which art can be made and digested.
“Nomad” narrative substance unfolds through a visual language of perpetual motion and iterations of animated gestures evolving through a conceptual replacement and over-layering of still mono-prints contained within a series motorized motifs and LCD sculptures.

2014

I dedicated moments during the year to revisit
an animated  film made in 2009, titled: “PROSPER”
I’ve developed a series of oil on canvas paintings that
depict key moments in the film. The body of paintings
were then previewed in Shanghai.

The raccoon reminds you to take a look
inward examining the mask holder, within a delicate
 balance between giving and receiving.
 Dramatically dusty charcoal drawings
captivate a whimsical fantasy of control and
freedom that endures beyond imagination. “

Article by Eric K Arnold Oakulture:
McShine’s fascination with ancestral cultures,
such as the Dogon tribe of Mali and their traditional
yet metaphysical sensibility, translates into some interesting
commentaries on societal disconnects in an age of technology.
Some of his work is very disconcerting and represents a state of
flux and conflict which is not supposed to be comfortable, i.e.
the notion of people as puppets controlled by huge monsters,
or fighting an inner war with themselves, or being pulled in
different directions by politics and media…
